Alan Sim, BVMS CertVOphthal CertVC MRCVS
![]() |
Alan Sim graduated from Glasgow University in 1980 and took up a post with Morris, Cheetham and Henderson Veterinary Surgeons in Duck Street, Wool. In 1982 he set up his own practice from an old chemist’s shop in Bovington, which he ran single-handedly before employing his first assistant in October 1985. Through much of the eighties and early nineties, Alan was largely involved in farm work, especially in routine herd fertility. Alan started to attend conferences in America from 1994 and realised that companion animal care was much more highly developed in the USA. He became keen to bring American standards of pet care to the UK and, with that end, started studying for further qualifications. He was awarded a RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 1998 and a further Certificate in Veterinary Cardiology in 2005. When the practice bought a MRI scanner in 2006, Alan undertook training to operate the machine and now provides referral services in Ophthalmology, Cardiology and Neurology. He has a six year-old son, Robbie, and is a keen fisherman and Scuba diver. His Labrador, Rudy, features prominently on our website - See where you can spot him! |
