Heathlands offers referrals for other vets in the following areas. If you are not a current user of our services, your own vet must refer you to Heathlands for investigation or treatment of your pet's complaint. You will always be referred back to  your  own vet  for ongoing care. Under no circumtances can we adopt  you as  a client of the practice for your routine pet health care needs.

OPHTHALMOLOGY

1) Diagnostic assistance - intra-ocular pressure measurement, indirect ophthalmoscopy, slit-lamp biomicroscopic examinations, direct and indirect blood pressure measurement,  echographic examination of the globe and retro-bulbar space, MRI examination of the orbit and neurocranium.

2) Surgery - surgery for refractory ulcers, corneal surgery, corneal pedicle grafting, dermoid removals, thermokeratoplasty, removal intra-ocular foreign bodies, eyelid surgery and facelift procedures

CARDIO-RESPIRATORY

1) Diagnostic assistance. ECG recording and interpretation, radiographic examination of the thorax, bronchoscopy and broncho-alveolar lavage, echocardiographic examination using B mode, M mode, pulse wave, continuous wave and colour flow doppler, contrast echocradiography, direct and indirect blood pressure measurement.

2) Surgery - cardiac tamponade/constrictive pericarditis, thoracic foreign bodies, lung biopsy, laryngeal surgery, brachycephalic upper airway surgery

CRITICAL CARE

1) Diagnostic assistance - fully equipped laboratory for biochemical, electrolyte and haematological examinations, blood gas analysis, coagulation testing

2) Patient support - nursing staff on premises 24 hours per day, infusion pumps, mechanical ventilation, incubators, suction, blood gas analysis, continuous blood pressure and ecg monitoring, central  venous pressure monitoring

MRI

Diagnostic assistance - neurological disease of cranium, disc disease, spinal disease, middle ear disease, suspect nasal tumours, joint disease, tumour staging
