BIOGRAPHIES: SENIOR STAFF

ALAN SIM

Alan qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1980. He came to work for the Veterinary practice of Morris, Cheetham and Henderson in Wool, Dorset. He set up practice for himself in Bovington in 1982.

Alan gained a further qualification in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 1998 and a further qualification in Veterinary Cardiology in 2005. Alan is a member of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, the British Association of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and the British Veterinary Cardiovascular Society He is pursuing interests in veterinary critical care and is seeking funds to undertake a research project on the subject of adder bite in the dog.

TRACEY PORTER

Tracey qualified in 2001 having trained locally at Kingston Maurward College. She has had a varied career in many fields including administrative posts, sales and marketing. Her career in veterinary nursing started in 1994 at the PDSA in Bournemouth and then continued at veterinary practices in Wareham and Swanage.

Tracey has been employed at Heathlands since January 2003 as Head Veterinary nurse leading a close and happy team of seven nurses. She has helped to introduce puppy parties, senior clinics and weight watchers all of which have proved very popular with clients. She is currently studying to obtain her certificate in the Hills Nutritional Adviser Programme. Tracey is responsible for all aspects of running the clinical area within the Hospital and is the practice Safety Officer.

DENISE PRISK

Denise qualified in 1980 and is currently employed at Heathlands as our Nurse Training Manager. Denise worked at the prestigious Stone Lion Veterinary Centre in Wimbledon before becoming an Assistant Scientific Officer for the MAFF at the Central Veterinary Laboratory, Weybridge. She moved to Dorset and took up a position as head nurse in a mixed practice and started up the Veterinary Nursing courses at Kingston Maurward in 1990. She has worked for the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as an External Verifier for the veterinary nurse training scheme and has recently been appointed Chief Examiner for the Royal college.

Denise started with us in 2002 and gained her Diploma in Advanced SurgicalĀ  Nursing in 2006. Denise also works for the University of Bristol Langford School of Veterinary Science as a training consultant.

JEAN PARSONS

Jean is our Practise Manager andĀ  has worked with Alan for over 20 years!! Not only is she an invaluable member of our Admin and Reception team but she can also turn her hand to nursing as well.

JOHN HARVEY

John joined the Hospital at the beginning of 2007 and has a specialist interest in Orthopaedics.

Sarah has been at Heathlands since 2004 and is an extremely valued member of the team.

Sarra joined the team at Heathlands as an Animal Nursing Assistant in August 2006 and is currentling studying to become a qualified Veterinary Nurse

Hayley began working at Heathlands in June 2007 and is also studying to qualify as a Veterinary Nurse
