What to do if you have lost your pet:

In the event that the worst does happen and your dog goes missing, either on a walk or from your home, it is best to call the local dog warden. In the Purbeck area they can be contacted on the district council environmental services number, which is 01929 556561. You can also give us a call and we will add your pet's details to the lost and found records on our computer system.

Ideal information to give is your pet's name, breed, sex, any distinguishing markings, collar colour, ID chip number (if you know it), where they were lost, and of course a contact number. We highly recommend ALL pets (including rabbits, ferrets and tortoises!) are microchipped in case they ever do go amiss, as it makes reuniting pets and owners much quicker and easier! In addition to this, we must highlight that the law states that all dogs must be wearing a collar with a tag that lists the owner's name and a contact number, which again makes it much easier to return them home. We also recommend a site called "doglost.co.uk", where you can register your lost dog.

With regards to cats, again give us a call and we can add their details to our records for you. In the event your pet is found and brought to us, we will of course call you and notify you.

Lost Pets:

We currently have no animals looking for new homes. If you are interested in rehoming an animal in the area, a good place to start is Dogs Trust, the RSPCA, or Margaret Green Animal Rescue.
